Hey hey hey!!
It's been a long time since i last wrote my blog. Haha. How are all of you? ( Just answer me in your mind or out aloud k to make it interesting and give me face alright? You're the best! )
Wow...the last time i was blogging about my place that I moved to and now....I HAVE 4 WEEKS MORE TO GO!! Time passes soo fast. Sobs sobs...but that's a good thing too. God has been faithful and blessed me many many many times and even saved me from my assignments a lot of times too. Haha. However, throughout my experience here in the Australian Kuching (Adelaide), one of the highlights is that God has blessed me with a DRUM SET!!
Some of your may be raising one side of your eye brows upon hearing this excitement. But DUDEs!! and Barbies of course...I finally have a drum set! Im sure those who are reading this blog would know that I get passionately excited over a couple of things especially about Jesus, Computers, and Drums! Drums are a big big part of my life...because it's my nature of being noisy and rhythm.ic...oooo...they are like roasted marshmallows and kolo mee....wah wah wah!!! Drums represent 'Gaya, Mutu, Keunggulan'...as the Dunhill Cigarettes advertisement would put it. (my my...this sure is a lot of crap)
The miracle of this drums is that I bought it for 75AUD = RM235. That is super super cheap!! Well..it wasn't brand new..it was probably 3rd or fourth hand... but that's not a big issue to me. My housemate, Albert and I bought if from the University of South Australia Overseas Christian Fellowship. The reason they sold it to us was because they have an electronic drum set which is more portable. Although it's not brand new, the important thing is that it's still in good condition and makes good music!
So, it was a grand day when the drums arrived at my house..my my...it was a glorious moment where light from heaven above shone of the drum set giving the drum set sparks and shimmers of hope to my dream of being a professional drummer one day....and that one day will come.
The sound wasn't very very nice when i got the drumset...but nevertheless...we were contented and kept on whacking the drum set until 2 weeks later, one of us (meaning me and my other two handsome housemates) kicked the bass drum until it split. Hence, we had to buy a new skin. I went to Allan's music and bought a 110AUD drum skin...in which i managed to bargain it down to 85AUD. It was an EVANS drum skin with EMAD (Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping Bass Technology). The role is to damp the sound of the drums like how the drum rings are supposed to work on the toms and snare tto give it a natural attack characteristic. It was one of the more expensive ones in the store. Well, my housemates and I chose to buy it because we wanted it to last for 5years..and more importantly, the sound it 'wicked' a term which i learnt from the drummer in the store. With all honesty, the sound was really really great!
We then bought REMO drum damp rings which cost 15AUD..which was quite decently priced. Haha. I also tuned all the toms and the final result is a drum that makes a sound pleasant to my ears. (Cis...gai-nya saya)
Then recently, I modified the arrangement of the drum set to fit it like how the drummers of Hillsongs and Planet Shakers drummers arrange their drums. I thank God for His creativity to put all things together that i was able to come up with a way to have the 2nd tom lifted from the floor. That really really 'Wow-ed' me.
But overall, I really thank God for giving me the opportunity to have a drum set in my stay here in Adelaide. If not, I would not have paid 500AUD for a brand new beginners drum set. My housemates and I will use the drum set for the furtherance of His Kingdom...to bring non-believers that are interested in drums to know what is Love. Basically, to make it a ministry to bring people to Christ.
That's all from me now. Haha. I sure felt good after blogging. Hehe. Ciao guys and girl!! =D
