Hello blog! I am so sorry that I have not updated you, merely because I am a lazy Sarawakian who does not know how to express thoughts into words..unlike some people, who have God given talent to do so. I need to say my sincere aplogies to Mr D because of my uneffeincy of updating my blog.

Anyway, I was thinking very hard and praying at the same time on what topic should I blog about. Finally...(with sounds of a magnificent, glorious and grand opening), the glimpse into Nicky's mind today would be about:-

CHINESE NEW YEAR

Well, I decided that it would be terribly unfair for Mr D to celebrate Chinese New Year away from his hometown. So, the least I can do is to sparkle up his CNY mood by sharing some thoughts of mine about CNY. However, I would really want to apologise again if reading my blog would cause Mr D to draw away more from a CNY mood, probably because of my randomness and like I said before, my inability to express.

Have your ever wondered how a Sarawakian would celebrate CNY? Well, Sarawakians would decapitate people and scrap out the innards of the head to make room for candles. The CNY head lanterns would then be hung on the ceiling as a symbol of prosperity. Then, Sarawakians would splash the blood of the corpse all over the wall to make red designs to invite good luck into the house. The bones would be made into noodle strips and those that eat alot of Sarawakian noodles would get a disease called Sarawatitis (I pity those readers who cannot stand the horrible and disgusting description I am giving). Actually, the only Sarawakian that would celebrate CNY like what I have described would be a Sarawakian by the name of N****L*S E*.

Let's get real and simple now. Below are some of my likes and dislikes about celebrating CNY. There are all together 8 of my likes and dislikes about CNY ( 8 is a lucky number isn't it?)

LIKES

1) FOOD
There are some delicacies that appear once a year only, and that time would be CNY! Mouth-watering delicacies like 'Mee Sua' and others that are not 'halal' in which I am not able to say would carve a smile in my heart and of course, my tummy! It is really a time where I can savour good chinese home-cooked cooking.

2) VISITATIONS
Usually on CNY my family would visit around 8 houses per day. However, when my secondary schoolmates go for visitation on the third day, we would do a CNY marathon, where we would visit roughly 20 houses a day. We would start our jouney from 8am to 2am the next day. It will be a very tiring day but trust me, it is fun!!
3) ANG POW
It is great joy for me to receive ang pow from friends and relavites and at the end of the say, I usually say a prayer of thanks for God to bless them in their lives. How much I get each year is private and confidential. Hehe.
4) FIRECRAKERS
My friends and I would basically explode everyting we see from oranges to dustbins and empty firework boxes. Luckily, I am still alive.
DISLIKES
1) CLEANING UP THE HOUSE
Some of you may be wondering why can't I fly back to Sarawak on Friday instead of a Thursday. Well, I think my dad wants me to help him clean up the house to prepare for CNY of course.
2) MY DOG WILL BE SCARED OF FIREWORKS
In my opinion, the one time of the year that my dog hates will be CNY. There will be fireworks and firecrakers bursting and shooting everywhere and being a dog, I can understand that my dog is scared of loud noises because he will not be able to cover his ears with his paws.
3) HOMEWORK
I think everyone will understand what I mean by this. So it is redundant for me to elaborate on this point.
4) BEING A 'BANANA'
For me to be a chinese that cannot converse in mandarin or in any other chinese dialect, I sometimes feel left out in conversations in my family and friends.
Well, this is all I have got to share about my CNY celebration every year. Ultimately, my Chinese New Year celebration would still be focused on being close to God as Chinese New Year without the presence of God is not Chinese New Year for me!!

HAVE A BLESSED CHINESE NEW YEAR HOLIDAY EVERYONE!!!FGFDERGGGG

My Artzy Futzy Study Habit

Shalom! First and foremost, I would like to stress that I have no experience in this alien world of blogging as it is a boggle for me to enter this world of blogging. Therefore, I urge you brothers and sisters,

PLEASE DO NOT EXPECT TOO MUCH FROM MY BLOG

and if you fall asleep, you are forgiven. (chuckles) :p

Everyone seems to be at a craze to blog, including my English lecturer who requires me to blog as part of my assessment. This is not an irony nor do I imply any subtle meanings in my previous sentence. Looks like I will have to enjoy blogging and I hope to be pumped up in exploring this trendy world of blogging! I will try to keep my blog in line with Mr. Derick's phrase of the year which is "Keep it simple, keep it real". Cheers!

****************************(^~^)*********************************

Sorry for the long introduction. I shall now describe my study habit for my lecturer to have a glimpse into my unique art of life.

Throughout my six months of studying in KBU, the place where I find is the best for me to study is none other than the only room in 'Centrepoint' that is inhibited by a Sarawakian - My very own room! It does not sound convincing to you does it? Well, let me patronize you, as quoted from my English lecturer.

The reason why I choose my room as the best place to study will be an ubiquitous answer, that is my room has all the study materials I need (text books, reference books, files and dictionaries). I can conveniently take the study materials I need from my shelves and study them rather than having to bring all the study materials I need to the library or to an eating outlet like McDonald's or Starbucks. The second reason of choosing my room as my favourite study location is because the atmosphere in my room is as peaceful as the nature in the hidden paradise of Borneo. ( I wonder if my simile is valid). Unlike the atmosphere in student houses which is always joyful and cheerful, I am able to concentrate fully in my studies because my environment is pretty silent.

However, eventhough my room is quiet, I usually struggle to overcome the 'enemy' of distraction. There are countless things in my room that can distract me from studying effectively. I would like to share one of my enemies with you as this enemy of mine is like 'sheep under wolf's clothings' and can be related to 'sleep under soft clothings'. This enemy of mine is none other than my BED! It does not take long for my bed to seduce me to lie on it's soft mattress and when I am engrossed with the comfort of my bed, I doze off to sleep and abandon my studies for the night. Sheesh...sickening..

I personally find it very effective for me to pray to my omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient God before i embark on my journey of studying for the night. Once I have prayed, I somehow feel peace reigning over my mind so that I can study effectively with great understanding of concepts and I will be able to recall alot of facts that I have memorised. So usually, I will advice my friends to pray before they study. God should be the centre of our lives in everything we do. Can i get some agreement with what i have just said?

In conclusion, this is a brief overview of my study habits. I have written more than 5 paragraphs and it will be enough for my lecturer to enjoy. Before I forget, you are welcome to comment anything in my blog as long it is of no vulgur of filthy language. Keep my blog clean please! Thank you for your time to read my blog and God Bless!
